A father's love became a shield for millions
NasalGuard didn't start in a boardroom. It started in a living room in New Jersey, where an engineer watched his daughter struggle to breathe — and decided to do something about it.

Ashok Wahi had spent three decades as a pharmaceutical consultant, working with many of the major pharmaceutical companies in America. But the idea that would eventually become NasalGuard started with something much more personal.
Ashok noticed that his daughter, Aikta, was particularly sensitive to certain environments especially when she was around her friend’s cat. He began thinking about a simple question: What if there was a way to create a barrier between you and the everyday airborne particles around you?
Drawing on his engineering and scientific background, Ashok began developing a drug-free gel designed to be applied around the outside of the nose. His goal was simple: create an invisible barrier that could help reduce exposure to everyday airborne particles such as pollen, dust, and pet dander.
And that’s how NasalGuard was born.
I developed this product because of the vital need to have some kind of personal air filter that was drug-free, non-invasive, and easy to use.

Ashok realized that certain airborne particles can carry an electrostatic charge. By creating a positively charged gel, he developed a barrier that acts like a magnet — helping attract and capture particles such as pollen, dust, and pet dander that you might otherwise breathe in.
A cationic polymer
Ashok formulated a water-based gel using cosmetic-grade ingredients with a natural positive ionic charge — designed for application to the skin around the outside of the nose.
Opposites attract
The positive charge creates an electrostatic field. Negatively-charged particles — pollen, dust, mold, dander — are drawn to the gel and held there.
Captures particles at the barrier
The gel helps capture and hold these particles at the surface — particles you might otherwise breathe in.

Trutek Corp. is born
Ashok Wahi, a pharmaceutical consultant of three decades, founded Trutek Corp. in Somerville, New Jersey — an R&D company dedicated to solving health problems through innovation.
The first patent
Inspired by his daughter Aikta’s sensitivity around cats, Ashok patented the NasalGuard gel, a drug-free barrier designed to help reduce exposure to everyday airborne particles you might otherwise breathe in.
FDA clearance
NasalGuard receives its FDA 510(k) clearance — an important milestone in the brand's history.
A new formula, a new leader
With daughter Kanika, a biomedical engineer, Ashok co-invents an enhanced NasalGuard formula — a new patent designed to help reduce the inhalation of fine everyday airborne particles.
Answering the call
During the pandemic, NasalGuard donates thousands of tubes to hospitals and frontline healthcare workers. 10,000 units go to Red Cross wildfire relief on the West Coast.
10+ million tubes and counting
Today, the NasalGuard family includes Air Travelers, Pollen & Dust Block, and Antiseptic Topical Gel, with Cool Menthol and Unscented options. More than three decades later, NasalGuard is still made in the USA and still family-owned.
